We will evaluate the possibility of establishing a renewable energy community – the first in our municipality – by connecting the municipality’s two photovoltaic installations.

La Vall d’en Bas is a rural municipality of roughly 3,000 inhabitants, made up of seven villages distributed across a surface area of 90 Km2.

Both the municipality and its population are firmly committed to increasing renewable energy consumption, through the creation of energy communities and networks to facilitate access to renewable energy for the municipality’s population.

Illustrating the municipality’s commitment to developing renewable energy installations, the town hall building already has solar panels installed, with plans to extend these to other municipal facilities.

Goals as a Flagship Case

We see energy communities as a tool for sharing renewable energy with people who do not have access to these facilities either due to the structure of their homes, or to economic reasons. Establishing these communities would create empowered social networks to lead the energy transition. Through our involvement with the ETU Initiative we also aim to boost the green economy in the Vall d’en Bas, increase social innovation, strengthen energy governance, and more.
