On 18th October the Interreg MED Renewable Energy Community will take part in the EBSOMED Sector Alliance Committee, within the framework of MedaWeek 2021, to discuss future trends for the decarbonisation of the Mediterranean region.

The Renewable Energy Community will be represented by its Project Manager Cynthia Echave (EMEA) in the EBSOMED Sector Alliance Committee on the Euro-Mediterranean Green Transition. The event will gather various renewable energy experts from different countries to give their inputs on these topics. Marco Polverari (Executive Director, MEDREC), Cyril Dewaleyne (Program Manager for Energy and Climate Change, European Commission) and Houda Allal (Director General, OME) – are among the experts that will imake up the panel along with Echave. You can see the full agenda here.

Panellists will give an overview of the state of the art of the sector in their different Mediterranean countries, highlighting existing challenges and opportunities, and proposing ways to move forward in the sector. As a session output, EBSOMED will release a strategic paper on the next steps and future trends for the decarbonisation of the Mediterranean region. The objective of the document will be to highlight existing and future business opportunities between both north and south shores of the Mediterranean, provide a complete outlook of the renewable energy market development in the region, and cooperate on regional issues, among others.

The session will take place within the framework of MedaWeek Barcelona 2021 (Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders), which serves as the main meeting point for voicing the interests of the private sector in the socio-economic development of the Mediterranean countries.
